A few years ago I bought a Pioneer 111D and it worked great for me, but I got a pack of 50 Philips DVD+R's and it wouldn't burn anything to them. It only takes the Verbatims (even with updated firmware). So in the long run it's cheaper for me to buy a new burner and use the Philips discs.

What burner would you guys recommend? Any favorites out there?

Any new brand name burner will work (Pioneer, Sony, Ben-Q, etc.)

could i use the dual layer burner that came with my dell inspiron 531 and what software do i need to back up my games
