I started to update my psp fat from 3.40 OE-A to 5.0 M33. It worked but, I got a message during the installation of the new firm ware saying I needed over 78% battery. I was at 39%. I hit exit charged the battery and turned on the PSP. The psp would not turn on. It was a black screen and the little green power light came on. I let it sit for 10 minutes and nothing happened. I took another battery from my other PSP fat CFW 5.50 GEN-B and put it in the PSP and it started right up. that battery was 100% and I sucesfully updated my other psp to 5.50 gen-b. but now that battery does not work on any psp. any ideas on what happened. and most important if I buy a new battery will it work on my psp's?

you may want to google this, but i have heard that the memory in a battery can get screwed up and need to be reset. i read that you make a contact between the 2 outside posts on the battery for about 5 seconds to reset it. i would google it first and find out if that works though. may help.

I read some articles on psp hack that said it is possible to ruin a battery by modding. But i really only want to know if i can buy a new battery and if the brand new battery will still work and be recognized by the psp after the new mods have been installed.

@ 3MUK....thanks for the suggestion. I downloaded PSP tool. I only had one problem with your instructions. I plugged in the PSP the with out battery ans tried the Normal Battery. It did not work so I went to usb mode, still no battery, and installed psp tool into GAME folder. I ran PSP tool, but it said there was an error. possibly because there wasn't a battery installed. Here in lies the main problem if I put the battery in the PSP the PSP wont start. SO, while plugged in without the battery, I popped the battery in. The PSP seemed to recognize the battery then I ran the PSP tool. I used the battery option and somehow it worked. THANKS!!!!
