Hi
So I bought a wii for the very first time today, I have hacked all the PSPs versions and flashed every version of xbox 360 drive and today I decided to take on the wii. I have been looking all over the Internet for hacking the wii and there seem to be many ways and some of the tutorials are out of date. I did read the sticky for hacking the wii but that has too many steps compared to this video
and it also says somthing about having a LU64, LEH250 OR LAH113 AND ABOVE shold not downgrade IOS. I checked the back of my wii and it says LEH141xxxx what happens if I dont downgrade the IOS can still play backups?
I have also seen pepople talking about playing games of memory cards, is this possible and do you have install a channel or somthing?

Edit: OK so I dont seem to be getting any responses, here is an easier question
Is 4.2 the latest firmware for the wii and is it hackable by bannerbomb?

Yes it is. See here. Follow all the steps there. By the way, the video you provided is way outdated and more suitable for firmwares 4.0 and below.

Ok thanks
I have 3.1e so that video should work for me right? but if I follow that video im not going to have the features of the latest update, how can can I get the homebrew channel on 3.1 and have the latest updates too? I also have a LEH thing that the sticky guide is talking about. shall I just go ahead and update to 4.2 and use bannerbomb?

It should work for you. However, given that you are on firmware 3.1, you probably are better off updating to 4.2 and following the guide penguin98 gave you. I would normally advise others not to update to 4.2 as the functionalities are the same as 4.1 and 4.0.

Is there a way of updating to 4.1 or something below 4.2 through the SD card? and also will the official wii SD card work for hacking such as this one

You can give Waninkoko Firmware Updater 4.1 a whirl. Also, that SD will do just fine.
