iPhone worm can steal banking data

article published on 23 November, 2009

It appears that the once "harmless" Jailbroken iPhone worm that was used by a teenager to Rick Roll his friends, has become a bit more malicious, stealing banking data and other personal information. So far the worm is only affecting jailbroken iPhones in the Netherlands, running SSH, that use ING Direct for their banking needs. Although the number infected is only currently in the hundreds, ... [ read the full article ]

I've always disliked Apple products, might be because I've spent 80% of my working life using a bloody Apple Mac, I detest all of Apple's products and the iPhone is a particularly loathsome example.

I'm not surprised about this report at all.

I'm not sure you can blame apple. Other than the fact that their product is so terrible that it must be jailbroken, they have not made the mistake. The mistake is shared by the users that do not change their passwords, and the programmer who failed to make an installer that forces users to change their password.

I wish they would sell an Iphone that could be used with any carrier like Verizon instead of just being locked into AT&T. Then there would be no need to jailbreak the phone.

bratcher - the problem with that, is Verizon uses CDMA, and ATT uses GSM, which is more popular, also using sim cards is a bit of a problem. Verizon doesn't use them.....

All BB's made have a Sim slot, and even tho most carriers will unlock them for you, CDMA equip just doesn't work on GSM systems.

AT&T has more jailbroken phones than any other network. This is because the apps cost too much, and Symbian is better anyway.
