I can't believe this! My XBox 360 Elite was made July 19th of this year and I have turned on my system less than 20 times. Just right now I got the Red Ring of Death saying that there is general failure.

So the reason why I waited on getting an XBox was because I figured these problems would be worked out.

So my intentions were to mod the firmware. I guess I will be getting a new one so how can I tell from the box if it is a hackable version of XBox 360?

check the hole and look at th date. hopefully you aren't implying you will swap the consoles because that is fraud and you could get fined / jailed / ruin your life by getting denied from every job you apply to etc. should they find out.

Providing your console isn't modfied I'd suggest sending it back to Massivesoft for repair.

No, I wasn't going to switch them but that is a good idea I didn't think of.

The reason why I want a new one is because there is obviously is a major design flaw if my BRAND NEW Xbox 360 gives me the red ring of death. If I do have a lemon, I want a new one and not one that will need to be sent to Microsoft every 10 hours I play.

Plus it just pisses me off that I just got it. The longest I have played it was 2 hours and yet now have time to play but I get to send it away for a month. Shoot, I even downloaded my games to the hard drive to minimize heat generating, and even have the system on its own end table in open space.

I would rather get a full refund but I bought Rock Band Beatles and can't get a refund.

So please tell me. Am I pretty much going to have problems with my system in the future?

Are all 4 quadrants lit up on the box, so its defo RROD and not something else? 1, 2, 3 & 4 will light up each meaning something different.

And you can do the buy and swap no more, they scan the xbox barcode, thats why there is wholes in the boxes so you can see s/n, etc. To stop fake returns.

Is the light on the power supply red as well? Mine got the RROD and it turned out to be a faulty PSU. MS sent me a new power supply and it's worked fine ever since. Nearly all RRODs are not down to the PSU, but it's worth checking.

If the console's only a couple of months old, why not just take it back to where you bought it and get a new one?

I am not doing the swap that you guys are thinking I am trying to do. It is definitely the RROD. 3 red lights go on except the upper right one. I checked the power supply and the light is green.

SoulB has the idea that I am hoping will work. I have had less than a month so I hope they will let me get a new one.

Did they charge you anything for the New Power Supply? Was your XBOX still under warranty when you called support?

This is retarded. If you buy a new one, it won't make a difference. All new xboxes have the jasper motherboard. You're not going to get get a different board unless the other one you bought was not a jasper.

No, they didn't charge me, but they did get me to send in the broken PSU. My Xbox was only a few weeks old, so yeah, it was still under warranty.
