hi all, im planning on using larryjlie's new wii softmod guide but i want to install preloader as soon as possible as i will be only allowed to install bootmii as ios, at what stage through his guide would it be possible to install preloader?

Once you are on either 4.0 or 4.1 install IOS60 patched before installing Preloader to avoid semi-bricking.
