Press and hold the reset button to see if Preloader is indeed installed. Generally, all DVD read errors are related to the type of media you are using. Use DVD-Rs preferably Verbatim or any media that you have successfully loaded in the past.

Are both systems modded identically? Again, before I can give you anymore suggestions did you try pressing and holding the reset button on the Wii to see if Preloader has been successfully installed?

How new is the system? Newer drives have blocked the use of backup disc loading. The only way around it is to use a USB loader instead.

As for Preloader and no hacks did you have a hacks.ini file on the SD card when installing Preloader?

the wii was a 2.2e system and i updated it to 3.3e using wii music. Im not sure if the file was on the sd card but i used the same sd card for both wii consoles and it worked on the other this is really starting to annoy me so any help will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Did you successfully install Preloader? I must tell you that there is no hacks.ini file for firmware 3.3. Hence, the trouble.

Are you using DVD-R for your backups? Also, how can you be so certain that Preloader is indeed installed? Did you try holding down the reset button on the Wii? To reiterate, there is no available hacks.ini file for System Menu 3.3.

Yes i have held in the reset button and it brings me to the preloader menu. I have now updated the system to 4.1e and reinstalled everything but still i get the 1101 error (i am using verbatim DVD/-R disc which work in my other wii)

How old is this Wii? Are you getting this same disc read error when booting original games? If you are then it's possible that your drive is either dirty or dead.

The wii is a couple of years old and originally a 2.2e version but i have since updated it to 3.3 and now 4.1e. It is still playing the original games ok. This is very confusing now!!!
