Have flashed every different kind of drive (multiple times), and never had a problem, have spoofed various drives as others and again no problem.
But I am replacing a goosed Sammy ms28 and I only have a Hitachi 79 spare, so I thought, easy peasy will spoof job done.
Managed to finally get the FW dump from the Hitachi (had to use Slax) weird thing is the drive doesn't need double press to eject (could it still be in Mode B)? Have tried every other method going to get Mode B but Slax is the only thing that works, any others just come up with "Drive Rev Undetermined.........Aborting!" when dumping.
Anyway, spoofed the source details (from the Samsung) to Hitachi ix1.51, then flashed the Hitachi, then Flashed the Sector Data then Flashed the Spoof data (all as per JF instructions).
All games now just show the "Play DVD" and then "to play this shove it in a 360", even Originals. Wave 4 games though show the big 360 logo only (like my Liteon ix1.6 does before Activate.iso).
I am stumped, it must not be spoofing exactly or something like that, and why wouldn't Wave 4 games behave the same as W3 and originals?
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to get all info in.

Oh, BTW when I now connect up the drive to JF it is seen as a Samsung MS28 so it does kinda work.
Edit: To Add, the original drive still works (just needs a help getting the tray out), I have tested ix1.61 on the Samsung and this loads up fine so i know the DVD key is good.
Make sure iX 1.51 is flashed to the drive then change the option to "Flash Key". It will prompt you to load a key.bin (save a key.bin from your Samsung).
Play DVD on originals sounds like your key isn't matching.

Thanks, can you just extract key.bin from a Samsung? All i did was manually copy the DVD key to the string field.
First powered on via connectivity kit, left draw open and powered off. Then put slax disc in and powered the drive from the xbox, ran slax, then ran the 79 unlock CD.
Then dumped the drive, figured out how to save key.bin from a Samsung dump (thanks Leerage), flashed the Hitachi, Flashed the Key.bin, Spoofed the drive, and hey presto now works!

I hate Hitachi's!!!!!!!!!!!
You should't have even done this. Hitachi's are the worst drives ever.
