Hi Guys,

I am using the above and until now have played all my back ups without any problems.... Reason being I have not had any recent back ups lately. I am now looking to increase my game library and return to wiihack world but confused with new terms and updates(softmod, ios...etc)

could somebody writes step by step what I have to apply in order to update our old wii? I read many threads and find some partial answers but really confused.

If you just use a wiikey to play backup games and have no homebrew or anything installed on the wii then just update it normally. Online or from a disk (Only update from a disk if the disk in question is from your wii's home region of course)

No firmware has effected modchips yet, only homebrew and sofrmodding methods.

Yep, wii firmware level has no effect on modchips of any firmware.

There's only 1 later wiikey firmware anyway, 1.9s. And the only difference between 1.9s and g is that s fixes the glitch that makes dual layer original disks unreadable. Dual layer backups work fine, but original copies of smash bros and metroid prime trilogy (the only DL wii games so far to my knowledge) won't work on 1.9g.
