i'm new, and i'm pretty sure this has been answered before, but does anyone know how to copy a copyright protected DVD to a DVD-R using not a computer, but a DVD Recorder for that connects to a television?
All i know is that the brand is a Zenith.

(Thanks Herb)

You need to get a device called a "Video Image Stabilizer" to strip the Macrovision copy protection off. Now I've done this with a great deal off success; one person on this board wasn't so successful. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/81090

To re-state my opinion, I would not use the standalone to back up DVD's. The computer has several advantages:
- Much Faster
- Software removes copy protection
- More options like menu's, etc.
- Dolby Digital sound

The video image stabilizer is going to cost you $30-$40. Myself I'd spend $100 on a DVD-R drive for your computer.

All the bruning info you need to start is here: http://www.dvdrhelp.com/forum/userguides/141024.php#dvd9dvd2one
