Yesterday, it was reported that Mac clone maker Psystar had settled with Apple for $2.675 million USD, and today it appears that the clones have been officially taken down from the computer maker?s website. A lot of the Hackintosh community is upset about Psystar charging for Rebel EFI since it's partly based upon others' 'freeware' hacks and that Rebel EFI transmits data to Psystar.

Actually, it looks like they might be totally out of business as they don't even offer the computers they sold w/ Windows or Linux anymore either. Maybe $2.675 million is all they had. And for only selling 768 hackintoshes, that's $3483 per computer sold. They coulda bought ~1600 new Core i7 iMacs or a ~800 8-core Xeon Mac Pros for that! ;-)

Yet another reason I will never own a mac. Companies that consistently do this kind of stuff don't deserve my money.

I just love how they use the logic of this hurting the company. If they made more of an effort to make their products financially available to more than 5% of the computer population, then this wouldn't be such a problem for them. As it is, they make more money from their mobile products(ipod/iphone/etc) then their computers.
