I've been reading up about the new lite-on drvie (how to detect it etc...).
I recently had a modded 360, but it had the 3 redrings, tried to fix and it worked for about a week then kept going, hence the new xbox.
I brought a new one with a manufactures date of 09-21-2009 on it and when I take the faceplate off and look in the little hole I see yellow cables, does this mean I have a liteon drive installed?
Also (as my man who mods boxes has told me) there isn't as yet a way to mod these boxes?
Please could someone let me know if this is true and if there is any 'light' at the end of the tunnel in regards modding this xbox in the future (future release of the modding software etc....)....
I don think you needed to open a new thread for this. The info is all over the place. This drive at the moment can be dumped but ofcourse takes a bit more work than previous models. Just hang in there and give it some time for an easier method.
Yes, it is a LiteOn drive. More than likely it will contain an August 2009 83850C LiteOn or a 93450C drive. Recently, a method was found to dump the firmware. So you are able to obtain the DVDkey, you will just need to wait for firmware.

Can you dump the firmware from a 93540C?
Yes, you can dump the entire firmware. You will need to wait for Jungle Flasher to support the 93450C firmware. That JF update should be coming soon. I presume an iXtreme LT firmware is also being made for the 93450C.
