Certain backup games have issues being read. Now a couple of my original games are getting disc read errors. Is this possibly the drive or laser on its way out?

definitely laser, you could have easily googled that one or done a search mind!

If you suspect that your laser is dying, you should clean the lense/s and do a pot calibration. Plenty of threads you can search on this topic.

Thanks for the replies. I took the DVD drive out and manually cleaned the lens, it is better. I'll have a look into this 'pot calibration'

lol i just put this in a thread about not reading discs about 1 min ago...jeez they are coming out of the woods in masses today.
