Hi I have flashed several benq drives before but i have never had this much problems with this drive. Im not understanding why there is a need for a 40 dollar CK3. why cant i just use the power from my xbox 360. I can get it where it is flashing in vendor mode but there is no COM port under jungle flasher. If there is some other alternative to power up the drive with no xbox360 or CK3. Or even if someone could please send me a list of what i need to build the CK3 myself and some type of diagram. Please Help me[/color]

If you have the 7 series firmware on your Liteon and want to save some cash, just use your 360 to power the drive and look around the inter webs because there are plenty of guides to build the probe/spear using stuff you can get from Radio Shack. Despite what some 'hardcore modders' on here think, you HAVE to use that probe to read the serial data from a certain spot on your 7 series Liteon to get the key.
The CK3 is some nice hardware, no doubt about it but it isn't required. Some say that MS keeps track of how many times your 360 turns on and how many times your DVD drive turns on. When you use the 360 to power your drive, this number will fall out of sync when you flash it due to the steps involved. This is where using the CK3 comes in handy. I'm never going to connect to Live so I could care less.
If you have the first generation of the 8 series firmware in your Liteon, no, you don't need a probe. I think the 2nd series Liteons and the 9 series have recently been hacked.
Some good news, the Liteon drives are pretty bulletproof, so long as you don't fry it with the probe or something. Even if your PC locks up during the flash and your drive is stuck in vendor mode, it can be recovered.
I have the 7 series I have plugged the sata into my Pc and found it under my I/O ports but there was nothing in the COM box to highlight so then i did the half open tray and my xbox was flashing green. Now im not sure what to do next to get the key should i solder bridge 707 or use a screw driver then what do i do after that
i can try and make the probe if you have some easy directions people are so worryed about xbox live its crazy im more interested in playing 50 dollar games. Besides someone has already figured away to get unbanned

Here are some detailed pics to build your very own probe:

You don't need to shell out any cash to make a probe/spear, the same effect can be achieved with, as you say, a screwdriver, but a more elegant solution is to isolate the two R07 points using tape to cover the board, then tape a small piece of paperclip across the points. When you're going to read the key you need only apply a bit of pressure on the paperclip.
If you mod boxes for clients I can understand why it would save time and effort to have a spear/probe, but if you're just taking care of your own xbox then it makes sense to use the method I described. Once you've extracted your key you don't need to worry about the R07 points anymore.
OK So once Jungle flasher finds the My drive i just basically don't worry about The com port and tape the r707 together with a paper clip or something holding it in place and hit the DVDKey32 tab and it should start giving me my key. Can i have this taped and ready before i power on the xbox 360 or before the half open trick i don't want to fry nothing will any thing happen if i have a accident and touch on r708 or any other close by.
OK i have my Sata running from NVIDIA nforce Serial ATA Controller to my xbox 360 drive everything is on and the drive is opened in the half way position the green light is flashing on the xbox 360 i open jungle flasher and it says no com ports were found during enumeration so then i click it off go to the top tab where it says DVDKey 32 all box's are unchecked There are NO COM ports because I'm using a screwdriver my I/O Address says 0x09F0 Type SATA Channel Primary Position MASTER and device properties says Vendor PLDS Name DG-16D2S F/W Rev 7485 Reserved has 20 numbers and letters. I Place flat head directly on top of R707 bridging them together i then hold and click DVDKey 32 all that it says is Sending DVDKey request to I/O port 0x0970 and
............
Failed to open com port
DVDkey files extraction aborted! its saying this over and over again i have used 3 different types of Flatheads also a paper clip what am i doing wrong please Help
