so i have been doing a lot of stuff to my xbox including adding 2 xcm core cooling fans, 8 led blue lights and a talismoon whisper fan that came with the lights. the xcm core coolers are running off the dvd power just fine. However the talismoon (or original fan) will not work. The talismoon does not spin at all and leds do not come on while the orginal will spin one fan half heartedly and the other one in short spurts. The 8 leds that are also connected to the fans power source work just fine. I am thinking to just soldering my talismoon fan to a 5 volt source on the mobo and just trying that as i think that will work. I want to hear ANY comments at all. please throw any knowledge at me

regardless of all the help lol, i cut the connecters off the fans and stripped the wires down and tried connecting my fan to the heatsink and the chip and it worked really well. I will now attempt to solder the positive leads to the chip. i will report back here after im done if anyone cares lol

***UPDATE***
I have soldered it and it works fantastic, it blows out a lot of air and that combined with the xcm fans is really pushing alot of air out and my heatsinks are not getting hot at all. i will do a temp reading tomorrow

Hey John_Donn

Does your talismoon fan sound like a 747 waiting to go on full throttle? i bought the fan to upgrade the stock after reading reviews of it pulling through a large % of extra air... no one said when you switch it up to max you can't hear the tv :( lol

It's now sitting back in my parts box as it got too annoying to listen too.

Oh I forgot to mention that i cut the metal grate out where the main fans sit. It seemed that this helped with noise and lessening the restriction of air flow through the box. I just used a pair of wire cutters as the casing is made of quite soft metal and it cut fairly easily. I didn't go the whole hog and cut the outer casing too as i needed a place to stick the switch for the talismoon :)

it did work and works amazing. i cut the normal wire right by yhe connector and i soldered the postive wires to that chip right there and taped the grounds right below the fan




Here is the whole xbox but i still have plenty of work to do with it




***Update*** I dont even use the fans stock power supply at all anymore, the 2 strips of 4 LEDs are soldered to a chip right under the front of the dvd drive and they are now on the sides of the dvd drive.
