I have been trying for months now to run home brew applications on my PSP with no avail. The instructions I have been given are to take the two folders (named something like "foldename" and "foldername%") included in the zip file I download and put them into F:\PSP\GAME\. I exit USB mode and navigate to the game menu (in which I have the application I put in the GAME folder and another icon identifying it's self as corrupt data) and run the installer. It displays the PSP screen the with splash of colours, goes black, then gives me the error message "The game could not be started. (8002014C)". Alternatively, I tried putting the two folders into F:\PSP\GAME150\. This gave me a similar error message "The game could not be started. (80020148)". As I mentioned in the name of the thread, my PSP is running CFW 5.00 M33-6.
Now I come to you with the question: what am I doing wrong? Is there some secret to this I don't know? If you could please enlighten as to what is going wrong here I would very, very grateful.

first of all you should update to gen firmware some of the newer games will work better with this. when you say homebrew games i am assuming that you are talking about iso's? if so there is no need to put them in any folder and you should not be putting them in games folder, put them in the iso folder. if you do not have an iso folder on the root of your device create one, and make sure you put another folder inside, common is video. try these things and see if they help you. also reformat your card before starting could be as simple as that.

You seemed to have missed a vital piece of information ^.^'' I'm having trouble installing homebrew applications. The games are working fine, its the software (specifically a program to play video files) I am having a hard time getting to work.
Thanks for replying though, I really do appreciate it :)

Ok, I took a look into the 1.5 kernel add-on and it can only be used with CFW version 3.90 M33. I tried running it anyway and it told me my firmware version was too high. Is there a version of the add-on compatible with 5.00 M33-6 or should I downgrade my firmware?

Hehehe. Ok my mistake on this one. The link you gave me was for the add-on for 3.90 M33 but after I did some looking around, I found one for 5.00 M33. I downloaded it and got it running fine. Homebrew apps ahoy!
Thanks allot for the help ^.^

Woof! Digging up old threads eh? Well here is what I believe to be the answer to your question.
1.50 Kernel Add-On for 5.00 M33
If that doesn't help then let me know and I'll snoop around some more. :)
