My 60gb got the yellow light last week. I was planning to do a reflow until I looked inside the power supply.

Based on the picture would you say the power supply is broken?

The white stuff to me looks to have damaged it. I wanted to be sure before I went and bought another one.

it definetly doesnt look normal, i would say 90% its the power supply.

I know that my 40GB model has lots of that white glue in the power supply...it is to keep things from shaking and damaging the solder durring shipment. I can't say from just a picture if this is what you have, but it looks like it. If you have a digital multimeter, then you could test the output voltage...I am not sure what the voltage is meant to be, but I am guessing it is a pair of grounds, a 5v, and a 12v.

Thanks thats what I need to know. I wasn't sure if one of those cylinders sprang a leak. I'd need to buy the multimeter to test it.

I might just buy a new power supply and re-sell it if its not the problem.
