So I think I am gonna go ahead and just solder my 16d2s drive. I dont want to buy the probe and all that.

Just to be certain though, all i have to do is connect the 2 plates on the r707 line. I DONT have to connect anything to the hole. Is this correct. Just connect the 2 little pieces and I am done.

Thanks in advance.

You should do more research before you make rash decisions. It's entirely feasible to make the R07 connection without soldering, without using a probe. All you have to do is get a conductive piece of material (I used a piece of paperclip) across the points, apply pressure when it's reading, and you're all set.

There's no reason to buy a probe unless you mod boxes regularly. If you're doing it for yourself alone, it's fast, easy, free, and once you read your key you can take it away and forget about the R07 points for all future firmware updates.
