tversity to ps3 with ethernet?

i got the media server running with wireless on ps3 but i want to transfer files so i want to use ethernet to make it faster. so i connect the ethernet to the ps3 to the laptop and i run tversity but when i scan it doesnt find any media servers. i tested connection on ps3 and i can sign in and all.

With T-Versity you may need to check you Firewall and allow tversity and uPnP connections. While doing this make sure your ps3 is off. The changes will take place right away but the internal mem of the ps3 will remember the last know setup. Once you have done that, turn ps3 on and give it a second it should locate it without having to search for it.
Another good tool that may work for you is PS3 Media Server. I use it to stream to PS3 and 360 alike. It decodes just as well if not better then T-Versity as I have tried it as well.
You can get PS3 media server from link below. I also recommend you download and install Windows Essentials Codec Pack. Alot of People like K-Lite, CCC, or ffdShow, but I have found that WECP works perfectly on both XP and Vista without damaging the integrity of the OS.
Note: If you decide to install WECP, please note that you should remove all other codec packs. Don't worry about Codec Sniper or any other tool designed to rid all codecs, WECP will fix any codecs left and overwrites any old ones with up-to-date ones included in the pack. You will get an option to install Windows Basic Media Player, I recommend you install it. It is a good tester for any file you may be unsure of.

if you restart the tversity media server it will pop up faster, I don't ever use the search for media server button because it is router dependent

I Used to have this problem with TVersity; The cause of the problem was converting to NAT type 1.

Because we all want an open connection, we connect PS3 to the internet using PPP username and password given by ISP. The result is that we get an open connection but now the PS3 is seen as an outside connection by your router despite it being physically on your home network.


You probably need to decide if you are on a PPP conection to the internet what is more important to you. to stream or to have an open connection or do what I do; get the best of both worlds (It could be slightly inconvenient).

When I need to stream I remove the PPP connection and put it back when I need to play FIFA 09.
