so im going through and rechecking.. all 120 of my games here

the two big things i am checking for (apart from all the normal stuff) is the splitvid and the SS version

but thats where i have a question, if i have a game that is SS V1 does that mean the game is not safe to use? Regardless of if the game is new or old? Do i want to have ALL of my games be SS V2? Or is there certain games that should be V1 and some that should be V2?

And if i have games that are SS V1, is there anything i can do to change them to V2? If not does that mean i should not play them on live?

Sorry im really new to all this and i just want to make sure im doing everything right :)

oh and also when im scanning my games (and i think this only applies to SS V1) should i have the "Adjust SS V1 angle 359 for iXtreme <v1.4" option enabled or not? (i realise that ill have to rip the game and then reburn to actually fix it)

Going forward any games that are not SS v 2 will be a risk to play on a console that will be connected to Live. Even if you don't play the games on Live, the system can still log inconsistencies and send that info to MS when you do connect.

As of now there isn't a way to repair them. You'll need to use a 360 drive with the 0800 firmware, connected to your pc to re-rip your games.

To be safest on Live will LT you will want all your games to have the SS v 2 is the main point though, whether you plan to play those games connected to Live or not.

very informative thanks for the answer :)

but just wondering, if i have a backup that is SSV1 and i rip it with that drive you mentioned, will it make it a SSV2?

or will i need to rip it from the original?

You'll need to rip from the original, the backup you have doesn't have the correct info on it for you to rip and get SS v 2.

I think we're going to see a lot of disappointed torrenters when LT launches and they still end up banned, because I grabbed a few games just out of curiosity from a few different trackers, and almost every ISO they had was SS v 1.

You must rip the game with a XBOX 360 DVD drive flashed with iX 1.6 0800 firmware to get SSv2. Kreon will not get SSv2.

what about ripping a game with SSV2 and extracting the SS from it and injecting it into another game with SSV1, would that work?

or would it screw somthing up? :P

thanks for all the help so far by the way

I don't believe that information is the same for each game. I know you're trying to avoid needing to locate retail copies of all these games, but that's really the only option at the moment.

well yea, its not so much that im trying to avoid them as it is more that its just impossible for me to aquire retail copies for most of these games

if i just take my chances with SS V1 how good are my chances of not getting banned? (when LT comes out obviously)

That isn't something any of us can tell you. It's impossible for us to know when MS may start to (or if they already are) use that information.

As is their typical thing, MS will likely collect info over a period, and then 6-9 months later we'll see a large round of bans of users using SS v 1 (if they use that info), so it's likely this strategy won't protect you at all.

ah i see, well ive managed to avoid the last 2 banwaves and ive been using games that now i find out werent even stealthed properly haha

so ive been extremly lucky in the past, but i know my luck isnt going to last forever so im going to be as careful as i can when LT comes out, but aquiring legitimate copies of games to copy (other than buying them, but then that sort of defeats the purpose dosent it?) is pretty much impossible where i live

so with the SS V1 and SS V2 im going to just have to take my chances for now.. do you think they will ever develope a way to patch games from SS V1 to SS V2? with abgx or another program or somthing? or is that somthing that is impossible?[img][/img]

This is where I have to check out, as that goes beyond my level of knowledge. It would be nice if ABGX could somehow be updated to have those values, and to patch them in, but I have no idea if it is technically feasible.

Unless the ssv2 values are unique per game, it shouldn't be a problem. You can extract the ss.bin with xbc and then patch it with abgx

does anyone see a potential caveat with this?

what about an older game like Halo 3? I know it's not too old but it's wave 2, correct? Is ss v 2 needed?

[01:57] <+c4eva> other drives are on the agenda

[01:58] <+c4eva> Even hitachi!

[01:58] <n8ofsp8ds> preferred SS v2 ? what if its v1

[01:58] <+c4eva> SS v2 is best, yes!

[02:00] <chieftex> THE question is - do we flash to stock first before accepting any updates from LIVE?

[02:00] <+c4eva> chieftex:that will be answered soon!

[04:20] <+RapStar> leaked fw was the same as this one people say

[04:21] <+c4eva> rapstar:no its not
[04:32] <+c4eva> ss v1 created using a 360 drive is fine, kreon is not!

[04:33] <+DxS> so if u wanna be safe, rip ur own games with a 360 drive

[04:33] <+DxS> 0800 standalone fw

[04:33] <+c4eva> dxs:correct

[18:50] <+c4eva> hello

[18:51] <@[TONE]> has there been changes by m$ yet on the discs?

[18:53] <+c4eva> yes, a very slight change in alignment , wave 3 onwards i think, so as to identify kreon rips!

[18:59] <+lt83850> c4 - elaborate more on calibration data when you get time as well, why was the addition added now if it wasn't even discussed for months? any additions?

[19:14] <+c4eva> cal data is not accessed by fw code at all but could be used by other processes, its value is still unknown, but since full dumps are now available, included for correctness

[12:07] <ratodopar> lt has no stealth i guess

[12:07] <+c4eva> LT has full stealth

[12:10] <|avfc2k|> c4eva whats best for banned box wave loading wise the non stealth or LT?

[12:10] <+c4eva> LT

[12:11] <ratodopar> even new games are ssv1

[12:12] <+c4eva> ssv1 from a 360 drive is good!
[12:14] <+c4eva> kreon:wave1 ,wave 2 ok, but 360 drive is always best!

[12:18] <Kushan> Right now SSv1 is fine, SSv2 is only needed if something changes. Splitvid is NEEDED for iXtreme LT. There you go.

[12:19] <Kushan> when SSv2 is "needed", it'll be for games from that point onwards, not previous game

[12:20] <Kushan> SSv1/SSv2 are a firmware thing from c4eva and co

[12:20] <Kushan> it just refers to the angles used when the game disk is pressed

[12:21] <+c4eva> 359 is left as is, if jitter result is 360 then it is set to 0

[12:21] <Kushan> right now, some of those target angles are ALWAYS certain values

<Kushan> KREON rips use predetermined angles, games ripped from a 360 drive will use the correct ones, SSv1 or SSv2

[12:24] <+c4eva> new games should not give 359 all the time, although this passes, it will stand out!

So according to c4 ssv1 is ok as long as it was ripped with a 360 drive ie 0800 firmware.

Thanks for posting that log sicdude, confirms what i was discussing with the admin at 360patches. as in ssv2 isnt even being checked by MS right now but we dont know when it will be so best bet is to be prepared. the most important thing now is splitvid as it is being checked now. everyone is making too big a deal over ssv2 and missing the real threat being faced right now.

For the people who don't rip their own games, (pirates)
In abgx go to options tab, then set verosity level to high, when you click launch you should get something like this in the log

DriveName=DG-16D2S (will change depending on drive)
DriveFW=iXtreme v1.6 0800 standalone

or

DriveName=SH-D162
DriveFW=Kreon

If it's ripped by iXtreme v1.6 0800 and ssv1 it should be safe with LT according to c4
If it's ripped with a kreon drive DON'T use it with LT.

Make sure the game has splitvid.
In abgx go to misc tab, now cange splitvid to "Add if it doesn't exist or isn't valid"

So any wave 3 game should be SSV2, so if I pirated it and lets say Sabatour should be w3, and shows Kreon, im screwed, I hope abgx does an update.

Here's a related thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-152/...o_ssv2-830539/2

I guess the SS values are independant per game. Luckily there's a site 360patches, I believe, and many people have uploaded the SSV2 files. abgx can patch the SS files, and as for adding splitvid, it will recurse subdirectories (If you have all your games in their own folders, as I do.
