Ok, so I've been noticing something interesting. Not only has M$ stopped banning people after the wave, but people who bought new boxes and flashed them to 1.6/1.61 AFTER the wave are doing perfectly fine now, playing on LIVE and not getting banned.

This makes me wonder if it's safe to flash to 1.6/1.61 if you were not on during the wave or have a brand new box? So far I only know of people with newly bought 360s that have flashed it and have been playing for weeks on live - no ban. And then there's the guy who said he got banned on Dec 14th, the first ban I've heard about recently, but apparently he played during the ban wave so he could of been flagged.

So, in a nutshell, people with post-banwave 360s that are flashed have not been getting banned. Thoughts?

Don't be ignorant. Of course they haven't been banned yet. It takes time for MS to gather data, and a lot of it, to flag these systems. People don't just log on and suddenly MS knows. It isn't safe, and what will happen is months down the line all these people thinking they are safe because the banwave was over, will suddenly find themselves getting hit as well.

Well it usually takes them a year to collect the data and ban you... (i.e NOVEMBER BAN WAVEZORZ)

I modded a few people just a couple of weeks before this November ban wave and sure enough they were banned when it hit the fan. That tells me it doesn't take a months to collect data. I'm more inclined to believe that are periods of time when they are looking and times when they are banning.

I'd say waiting for LT so you then aren't banned come the next wave makes far more sense.

MS can't read the firmware. So long as the new LT doesn't give the bad responses that IXtreme has, I have hope we'll at least be able to go another few years, much like I did with the original firmwares.

As stated many times on this forum, you know all the effort we go through to read firmware off these drives? Probing and vendor modes and all that. The firmware can't simply be read. If MS could get it that easily, so could we.

As already stated, the problem is that Ixtreme produces slower response times, due to all the security features it has. LT will be bare-bones, mimicking the original firmware. This means that if your rips aren't up to date with Splitvid, SS v2, etc, you will find yourself banned with LT as well.
