This is a dumb question because I think I know the answer, and if not the answer, I think I know what I am going to be told lol but it is worth a shot
During the ban waves, they hit because of system updates. So, on the newest xbox's (purchased after the banhamma), the newest update should be present. Would that update be able to ban the xbox without ever connecting? Then once connected, it makes it connects to LIVE servers to record the ban?
I am not sure, just worth asking. Reason being is that I can go without LIVE for a while. I just wanted to see if it was worth the temp upgrade on my new liteon to ix161

1) the newest consoles dont have the updates. you will still need to download those when you connect to live.
2) lite-ons dont have 1.61
Come talk with us on efnet at #elitemods !!! or just click ME
ALSO, DO NOT SEND ME MESSAGES ON LIVE REGARDING MODDING CONSOLES, OR HOW I PLAYED A CERTAIN GAME EARLY. I WILL NOT RESPOND. I WILL INSTEAD DELETE YOUR MESSAGE, AND BLOCK ALL COMMUNICATION FROM YOU. JUST SEND ME A PM ON HERE.

Ahhh I see
And sorry, I meant 1.6 lol
So can a console be locally banned? I have connected to LIVE with stock fw and updated my console. I have not modded it yet. If I do now though, will I get locally banned?

Ok, so it's reasonably safe to do a temp flash to 1.6 and stay off of live until LT is released?

Sorry to Hijack your thread but i have a question as well.
Lets say i have a console that i modded right before the ban wave. now during the wave while i was online i played only legit games online. My console has only seen ban game once for a few seconds and that was basically to test if the mod had work. A couple of weeks into the Ban wave (2nd week of Nov) I've decided to say offline till LT came out. My question is if i were to play modded games offline till LT comes out and as soon as LT comes out i switch to that and go back online would i still be at risk for being flagged and banned?

Can't you download the update from xbox.com and update the console using a usb drive?

I'm feeling pretty licky b/c I have yet to be banned. I feel the only reason is me being so damned lazy. My laptop is slower when using wifi so I use my 50 ft cat5 cable in my room from my laptop and I'm to lazy to plug into my last legged xbox360(It's RROD 4 times now). I'm not saying I didn't go online I have a number of times. The thing is I have always connected to live weeks before the ban waves.

the 360 has an offline log that it'll send to m$ when u re-connect to xbox live, however it'll be a while before the next ban waves, and until then who knows if LT will truly work until then anyway
