Weird DVD Problem

Hello,

I had issues with my Wii DVD drive. It wasnt ejecting DVD. I opened it up saw that eject motor is out of place because it stopped working and overheated and melted the plastic around it. I bought a replacement motor and replaced it. Then it ejected the DVD inside.

Now it does not take DVDs. Whenever I try to put a DVD it senses it and literally "bites" it. if I frcefully push it inside, it will take it and everything works fine. But of course this scratches the DVD pretty badly.

I am thinking that DVD sensing circuit is gone bad but I am not %100 sure. Would anyone have anyother thoughts?

I've never attempted repair on a wii DVD drive, they're pretty complex with many tiny moving parts.

I know 2 people who's drives have broken though. One bought a full replacement drive and it works fine. For the other I installed a USB loader. Their drive still doesn't work, but they can play their games from a USB drive now.

hmm, USB drive idea seems pretty interesting. can you give me some guidance how to make it work?
