Hi, I searched and could not find this topic. My bad if it's been asked before. You guys are a smart group here and so I was wondering, do you guys leave the games or movies in your PS3 when not using it? I googled this and it seems to be a lot of debate on this online. So I just wanted to see what you guys think. Thanks.

When it is just turned off, I always leave a disc in. I do remove the disk when I transport the unit; as it was shipped without a disk I assume this is better for shipping/moving.

I dont remove the disc ever, you can hear it stop spinning after a minute or two without using it.
With the PS3 turned off, I had a game in for more than 2 months cause i was on vacations.

I would begrudgingly agree that it should be of no problem, but the cautious person in me always takes it out. Why take a chance when it takes a second to remove. It could never hurt it to always remove the disc.

Unless always removing it destroys the loading mechanism.
Ta-dah!

that's a;ways been my thoughts. I generally go through stages of playing a game for a couple of weeks or so. I figured there was no point placing unnecessary wear on the loading mech's, so always leave the game in there.

With my recent PS3 dying I say take it out. My PS3 died and it did not die while in use and well the disc was in there. Since then I always take the disc out.

I always leave the disc in unless I need to move the console.

So you are only going to play 1 game that is always in your drive and never play any others...right back at ya ;)

Forgot about that one, which in itself is hands down the best reason to do so.

Touche...
But! Keeping it in the drive unless:
1) I decide to play another game or
2) I plan on moving the PS3
limits the amount of times I DO eject it. Definitely limits wear and tear from ejecting and inserting it after every playthrough of one game.
Knight to B-4. Your move. :P
(That said, I seriously doubt that it matters oh so much the condition of the disc mechanism, especially since most of the issues come from the motherboard/hard drive/BD drive/PSU/firmware.)

Seems like a downright silly reason...if the laser dies, you have to open the drive anyway. Maybe if it is still under warantee it is a good idea to keep the system empty...but failures usualy happen 5-10 days after the warantee has expired.
