I'm a little new to the scene and I was planning on waiting until the release of LT to flash my BenQ drive. However, after I saw the "delayed until further notice" tweet from TeamJungle I've decided to go ahead and flash now.

I'll be keeping the box as a strictly offline machine until/if LT is released. My questions are:

1) Should I download all the XBL updates before flashing, or not download them at all? (I've been offline since before the facebook/twitter/last.fm update that seems to have caused the ban wave.)

2) What version of iXtreme should I use? I'm unconcerned with online until LT is released, but I don't want to have to patch to different waves and what not if it can be avoided...I'd rather not have to use the activate.iso disc either, but would rather that then patching I think.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks!

the secret service patched non-stealth 1.41 seems to be good. It supports SS v2 and all waves, as well as the proper drive speed. Unfortunately i'm having a hard time trying to find a place to get it so if anyone knows where, post it!

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been hearing about flashing to 1.41 and not worrying about the activate.iso but I'm wondering if it has less security measures and features than 1.61...

1) Yes I would unless you want to use homebrew.

2) I'd say 1.41...again not sure how safe and secure it is compared to 1.61.

I have all the BenQ firmware that was available on Xbins as of yesterday:

Benq iXtreme v1.41
Benq.iXtreme.v1.4
Benq_iXtreme_1.41_Rev_2_Non-Stealth_Multispeed
ixDef_1.41_Rev_2

I assume the bolded one is the one I should go with? When I extract that I get four folders: 2x, 5x, 8x, and 12x. Is 12x the stock speed?
