Hello

I have the WiiKey 1 so was unable to play the New Super Mario Brothers.

After some research I realised I needed to softmod my Wii to play it.

I have managed to remove the old stub IOS249 which then allowed me to launch NeoGamma which seems to work ok and loads Mario from a DVDR.

However when I launch NeoGamma it warns me that I do not have a IOS249 installed and to continue only if I know what I am doing (not sure if I do really!).

I have tried to install a custom IOS249 using various methods which have all failed and returned an error code of either 1, 2011 or 1035.

I am on system menu 4.2E.

The question is as everything seems to be working ok do I actually need this custom IOS249 or am I ok just continuing to ignore the warning. Will this cause potential problems in the future when the next system update comes out etc (apart from a new 249 stub being written which will need removing again)?

Also since removing the custom IOS 249 my SD card will hardly ever be recognised in cboot2 (may be coincedence).

Sorry if this has been asked before but I did search the forums and could not really find an answer.

Thanks
Robin

Actually NSMB got further than it had previously but still crashed (it crashed towards the end of the first level instead of when trying to load the first level which it does when launching normally)

I then followed this tutorial: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs...os-4-2-wii.html

This got the custom IOS249 installed on the Wii so I no longer get the error when loading NeoGamma except that I still cannot play NSMB from a DVD. It now fails each time as soon as I press A when it tells you to put the wrist strap on and not knock anyone out etc.

Does this mean I still need to put it on USB storage?

Thanks for any help.

I think I've fixed it now.

I had to download a different version of NSMB which seems like it works ok. Both said they were patched though.

I have got to the end of level 1 with no errors which wasn't possible before.

For info which may help others:
I did this first: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs...stem-menus.html

Then this:
http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-faqs...os-4-2-wii.html

Then I downloaded a patched copy of NSMB and it worked with no crashes.

Hope it is ok to post these links here.

Robin
