I'm hoping I might be able to get some help here because this is really getting frustrating.

I have recently picked up a R4i SDHC card for my DSi.

It looks like the classic version, except it has a silver 1.4V sticker on the front of the box ie

Classic :

MY version :

Note that only the box is different, the actual Cart is exactly like the classic. There is no yellow star with 1.4 in it on the actual cart.

The SD card I am using is an official Kingston 8gb card :

So looking at the official site, I'm a little stuck as the official kernals there don't seem to be quite the same as what I have (although the classic looks more likely)

So anyway, I use the Panasonic SD formatter (v2.0) and format my Micro SD (8gig). Works no probs.

I copy all the files in the R4i English v1.09b zip from the official site and get the usual folders (moonshl2,R4iMenu & R4.dat) which all go onto the root of the SD card.

I then create a Games folder and drag my .nds files into it.

So far, so good.

So then I start the DSi...

In the menu, I now see the R4 card as Star Wars Lethal Alliance. I understand this is normal?

I run it and get the error :

and it goes no further.

Rebooting doesn't help. Recopying the files doesn't help either.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue and/or know why it's happening/if there's a fix?

I would assume either the DSi firmware is incompatible, or the kernal firmware I'm using for this card is wrong.

FYI the DSi is running official firmware 1.4A

Cheers

Oh and just FYI the url at the bottom of the box there is :

I went looking for this on http://www.linfoxdomain.com/nintendo/ds/- and of course, it's not there...

ARGH!

Go to website www.dscardworld.com/download.shtml

and download the following file:

R4i SDHC including Moonshell (22.4MB)

Extract file to your PC in a place where you will find it.
I put mine on my desktop.

It would then be a good idea to reformat the SD Card.
This can be done in Vista by doing the following:
select the correct removeable disc in 'Computer' right click on it and select format, change selections to FAT32 and click on Quick Format. If you cannot do this then you can download a formatter here: www.panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/sd_formatter.html

Once this has been done I then transferred the files from 'software-r4isdhc' to my SD Card and added a folder called 'Games'.
I initially transferred just one game to the 'Games' folder to check to see it worked which it did so then added the rest.
And the rest is history... only took me a week to crack it but hopefully this bit of info will help someone else.

And just to let you know once the DSi is switched on with the card inside it wont show as a R4i card as I found out, it was shown as a game which wasnt a game I had on the card.

This DOESN'T work for the above R4i card. :/

Same problem. No Change.

Maybe it depends on what firmware is on the DSi ie: 1.4A 1.4E, this can be found on the top screen bottom right hand corner when in settings... thats the only reason I could think it dont work, maybe firmware is needed which is compatible with the firmware on the DSi... im currently looking into this to see if this could be the problem.

Ive had quite a god look about on the net to see what Ican find out about this... it seems that if you have the R4i sdhc and have 1.4a on your DSi then it gets blocked and wont work, theonly alternative I can find is to buy a card called the hyper-r4i which will work with 1.4a, I have 1.4e and thats why it works.

Have you checked what version you have on your DSi?

Hi this post and link has been a complete life saver, thank you. I have bought my son a DSI for Christmas and thinking that the R4 card would be as simple as the M3 card for the ds have only just decided to put the games on to it. I have been searching for days and several downloads later for a soulution to the lethal alliance message.
I can now go to bed :)

Thanks again
