>> Yelrac released a new program for homebrew (freeBOOT/XBReboot) Xbox 360s:
[QUOTE]
This tool will let you run a .XEX in the root of an USB device without having to launch XeXLoader first.
For example, with it you can launch an alternative dash like the one based on the OXM Disc directly.
To use it, you must rename the default.xex to usb.xex in the root of USB device. Renaming the default.xex avoids having to disconnect the USB device when you restart the Xbox since there is no more default.xex in the root.
There are 2 ways to install the USB Loader:
1) Burn the ISO image on a CD. Launch it from your Xbox360 and USB Loader will be install automatically.
2) If you already have XeXLoader, copy the 00000001 directory in the genuine HDD to Content/0000000000000000/
Once the installation is done, USB Loader will be displayed in your Games Library.

what is it exactly that I need to have to do this? I have a xbox but is there a certain one or firmware that is required for this to work? Does the firmware need to be a certain one? and if so is there a downgrader?

I'm looking into making a homebrew box myself, but I'm no expert.

I believe a 360 with kernel version 7371 or previous (basically no update later than this past August).

If you're talking about iXtreme, then no, the firmware is specifically for the DVD drive to read burnt games.

I wish. I wish. I wish. I wish. I wish. I wish. I wish.

all this app is for is loading a specific xex rather then picking xexloader then manually selecting the xex you wanna load.
xexloader is nice, but it lacks a nice looking gui.
using this usb loader with 360menu would keep things cleaner.
its just a matter of time before xexloader becomes better looking though, new release of XeXLoader around christmas
still, its great to see alternative apps.

If this lets you play backups from an external usb source then this is definately better than flashing your xbox...hope they make it for currently live updated xbox's.....

Very little chance of that happening I'd imagine.

you need an exploitable pre 8xxx kernel. any 8xxx kernel=dashboard is not exploitable (efuses are blown). some pre 8xxx dashboards appear to also be not exploitable, haven't seen one yet. but some users report theirs to be non exploitable.
if you have an exploitable xbox, you need to apply the jtag hack and flash your nand with the correct nand image (for xenon boards, a xenon etc. etc.)
then install xexloader
xexloader, what the original post is referring to, can be used to start any default.xex file from any drive (usb, memcard, internal hdd etc.). so if you extract any xbox 360 iso image to you harddrive, you will be able to load games of an external usb drive. you need to patch the default.xex to remove all limitations. i tried around 15 games, all run and play fine of an usb harddrive. the interface is rather simple, but the point is that it works great. rather have a crappy looking gui that works fine, than a good looking gui that works like crap.
homebrew has really taken off with xbreboot, i'm loving it. found no real problems up till know..
