Hello

May i start bu wishing every one a very merry christmas and a happy new year

Right down to the question

I have a drivekey fitted in my wii its on version 3.4e at moment and having problems with certain games saying there a wii system update need to be able to play this games

My question is should it be ok to update to the latest verion of firmware, and be able to still have a full working drivekey after

I dont have HBC or any other wad or anything else like that on my console and have no reason to put it on

many thanks

Wii firmware updates have never affected modchips, only homebrew. Since you don't use any homebrew then you're totally safe to update.

So it would be totally safe to update the wii firmware by downloading it from nintendo by connecting though wifi on the wii

updating to 4.1 seems ok, but if you update with a game that is 4.2 this will make your wii region set. meaning you will only be able to play games from your region. it is recommended not updating past 4.1 at this time.

i've the 4.2e and the drivekey on a very recent PAL wii (oct 2009).
A lot of backups i've burned not works. Probably they're NTSC version.

Could be the different region the problem? also if in the drivekey menu the "region override" is on?
