Hello ive just followed the tutorial for softmodding. It all seems to be working with certain games like mario karts. I have a Wiikey but i never figured out how to update it so i softmodded as well. I currently get most games to work using firmware 4.1, and Neogamma R7 i followed the tut but ive just tried tigerwoods 2010 and topspin3 and i keep getting the Error #001 unauthorized device any ideas please

Error 001 is almost always caused by the game detecting your modchip. You can either update the wiikey, or since you're softmodded now anyway, just remove it.

The wiikey is a chip i had installed years ago when they first come out, so it shouldn't really apply to you i just mentioned it encase its affecting mine. Also i used the Cios 38 and in there seleceted 38 as the thing i wanted to install with then installed rev 14 is that what im meant to be doing as previously i installed using 29

you really need to start your own thread instead of taking over someone else's.

Do you think if i try and play the games of a USB drive it might make a difference or am i still going to get the same error. Do you think it might be worth trying to remove my chip thanks Larry

Helena, start your own thread about your problem as hijacking another member's thread is a forum rule no no.

I would try updating the Wiikey first. If that doesn't work then you can always unsolder the modchip from the Wii and go with a softmod.

I have updated the wiikey to 1.9s or at least i think so i did the thing twice but i never heard a homer sound but the screen said the update was complete and to reset the console. I am also trying to get the 1.4 config disc to work, which shows up as a gamecube disc in the disc channel but then always fails to open any other ideas.
Thanks

As far as I know (I just read this don't have a Wiikey myself) you need to do it until you hear the homer sound. When updating a Wiikey I think the first time it runs through the update it is only a test. You need to run it a second time to actually update the Wiikey. So you should go through the update processes twice.

You shouldn't;t get the #001 error if you softmod the system and use a loader like NeoGamma R7.
I have both 4.2 firmware or 4.1 firmware and below softmod guides in my sig. I also have a USB Loader guide to load games off a USB Device in my sig.
