Bin File download for firmware

hello,
ive just bought the starview 5 box and it doesnt have updated firmware on, ive come to download the latest firmware and it basically wont let me cause it cant find the programme to run a 'bin' file? can anyone help me with this, i would be very greatfull. Merry xmas ;)

you dont run a bin file you put it into your box via a loader, the previous starview boxes used a loader called gtrom, click on the link in my signature and choose starview and see what loaders are there. each starview has its own loader,it may even be a loader and bin file in one program.you should get all the info you need before attempting to flash your box(flashing is the term used for loading the bin file in to your box).

Thanks for the reply, much appreciated,
ive had these boxes before and downloaded the firmware, put on usb etc etc no problem but this time i cant download it ...for eg, ive clicked on your signature, found the software i need and as ive come to download it it says...do u want to save this file or find a programme online to open it?
When i save it, it just come up as a short cut!! in the past ive been able to just download it then put it onto the usb ready to load onto the box.
Am stuck ha

you need winrar or winzip, google it and download it, then highlight the file and unpack it, once unpacked, drag to the stick (make sure the box is off when removing or inserting the USB)turn the box on and flash the firmware

ive downloaded both mate but its still saying the same when i come to download the firmware? its never done this to me before like :(

the archive is either in unknown format or damaged...this is now what it says. are these firmware downloads still ok? hope am not soundin ungreatful, just tried to download them on 3 different computers now and cant get them workin at all. all 3 computers have win rar aswell.

Here is the correct file below make sure you format your usb stick first to clear anything on it then drag the file from your desktop or whereever you download it to and then put it in the box and update the firmware then

Thanks for all the help lads, i eventually got sorted, in the past when ive downloaded the firmware ive been able to open it up straight away in winrar, but it kept sayin the file was damaged etc. so just saved and compressed in winrar then it worked draggin it across to my usb straight from winrar rather than my desktop (as it was just showin as a short cut)
