Hello, I've just got a wii :) It's a new one so looks like they fixed the DVDrom hole so I think I'll have to play all my backups via the SD slot with ISO game images. I'm modding it with the new Wiikey Fusion so now to my questions :)

1) If and when I figure out how to the USB loader GX program do I still need somthing called neogamma r7 with rev 14 cios?

2) IF I have this Mod chip do I need a loader and or Neogamma anyway to boot my games from SD?

Thank you

The Modchip is pretty much worthless if you have 1 of the new DVD Drives that will not play backup disc.

You will need to softmod and use a USB Loader to load your games.

NeoGamma has the option to load games from a USB Devices but I would recommend using a different USB Loader instead.

I would recommend using CFG USB Loader instead of GX or NeoGamma.

There are softmod and a CFG USB Loader guide in my sig.

Thanks for the info but maybe your not familiar with this new Wiikey Fusion modchip;
http://www.consolesource.com/ecomm/catal...Wii-p-2999.html

It doesn't use the DVDrom to run backups but allows booting game iso's right off SD cards because the DVDron hole was fixed so yes renders the old Modchips useless.

I'll check out the CFG USB Loader anyway. Thanks

A simple softmod can do this as well.

I don't know why anyone would go for a Modchip now days. I would bet that allot of the users that have modchips probably softmod their systems to run homebrew anyway.

It would seem more practical to save that $ on a Modchip and put it to wards a USB HDD Device.

How abut reading the guides in my sig or in the Ultimate Sticky thread. You can softmod it on 4.2 or below firmware.

Ok, thanks man, reading it now. Even with the new wii's that fixed the DVDrom hole can I read burned disks from the DVDrom or do I need to read about the USB loading or SD loading with your SoftMod?

Well lets see if you have 1 of the new drives that can't read backup disc then what other choice do you have?

Ok, thanks anyway, I think I'll stick with a real Modchip instead of taking the chance of getting it bricked or baned by doing software mods.

You will not get banned with a softmod.

As for bricking the system. If you follow the softmod guide you will not brick.

It looks like the Wiikey Fusion only loads games from a SD Card.

I would hate that. USB loading would be much better so you can use larger storage devices.

Also you could pretty much buy a 300GB to 500GB USB HDD for the price of a 32GB SD card.

Which sounds better to you 32GB or 500GB?

But that is up to you. Your system not mine.

Would the steps be there if you didn't have to do them? As well the guide already teels you how to backup and restore using Bootmii.

Hey Matrix, It's no sweat at all to softmod. I have done both softmod and chips on new and old Wii's and by far softmod is the way to go! Much easier to do. and Home Brew channel gives you the option to to run Emulators and all kinds of other cool stuff. Just follow Larrylje's guides step by step its easy his guides are very good. Softmods are free BONUS!
Good Luck and have fun !
