I got a new elite from a customer today. Man. Date 9/20/2009, 8xxx series lite-on dated August 2009. Dumped and flashed via Jungle Flasher. Anyone else done this? Didn't think the Aug. Drives were dumpable without soldering. I gave it a whirl and couldn't believe the results.

cool i am going to get a new elite next week.
did you just use the spear the same as the original lite on?
is that the latest version or will my one be a later version that needs soldering?

i thought the 83850C and 1st liteons where dumpable,thats why i havent even tried any from july

any lite-on before Aug. 2009 is dumpable and flashable without soldering. This drive was not supposed to be dumpable but I tried anyway. Same method as teh V2 lite-on before August and it worked fine.

Ive done ones with a mfr date in september without soldering. I havent even come across a drive made after september yet which would have to be soldered.
