Iv'e backed up quite a few of my dvds and recently decided to print and attache the labels.Whenever i back up a dvd i always check it for read errors with DVDINFOPro to make sure the disk is 100% but after fixing the label i did a check before and after and there were over 2000errors .....can anybody explain this and please don't say the only way around this is to not fix the labels as iv'e already thought of it

As of yet the only way to label DVDs without errors that I know is by printing directly on them. I have seen printers for 100-170 dollars.

By sticking labels on your dvd backups, you throw the disc out of balance causing the read errors. If you use the search function I'm sure you will find many posts against installing labels on discs. Only certain players can play labeled discs and it is really trial and error to see if they will work on your machines.

The labels can "unbalance" the disc while the disk is spinning thus causing read errors by the laser. The label will age & potentially "peel" thus the potential for hardware damage raises, thus voiding hardware guarantees. There have been reports that the glue may well "eat through" the disc protective layer. There are probably many other reasons...

Id strongly suggest that you remove all your applied labels by soaking in water, and NEVER apply another one!
