chipped wii version 3.4 and wii fit plus

hi
i got the new wii fit plus for christmas and when i insert the disc it says "unable to read the disc"
my wii is version 3.4 and i don't know what type of chip is in it :S

will the wii need updating?
and if so would this damage the console in any way (due to it being chipped)?

have no updated the wii to version 4.2U and I'm still having the same problem
the disc is brand new and has no scratches..

any ideas?

Do your other games work?

If so I would return the Wii Fit + to the store you bought it from and ask for an exchange. Just because it looks scratch free doesn't mean there isn't a defect inside the pressed layers.

yeah my wii sports game works perfectly and thats genuine

The "unable to read the disc" error more then likely is a disc issue. Nothing to do with your Hardmod.

Usually those error message give #001 or $002 error messages.

So I would do as I suggested and exchange the game out with another Wii Fit +.
