hi ive had my wii soft mod quite a while ago with a SD card bought a new game but wont work unless i do the wii up-date if i go ahead an do this will i still beable to play copyed games?

More then likley no.

I would follow the 4.2 softmod guide in my sig. After that you should be good to go.
