Hi all
Im trying to update my lite on drive from 1.6 upto 1.61 so i can play wave 4 without having to use the activation disc ( I know you can patch the games but I dont want any Bad rips around for when I can get back on live. The xbox Im trying to update is Banned.
So on to the facts

Windows 7 32 bit
via 6421 card with drivers removed
port io is installed
using a connectivity kit brought from ebay
this drive has been flashed by 2 diffrent people before so dont have any origanel key info
using jf 1.66

onto the problom
I can not seem to get the drive to eject using the connectivity kit
so I used the manual method thats listed in the jf guide to open and half shut the drive
but when I start jf it does not apper I have cycled through the 4 io ports I have 2 of which are ide and 2 are sata and I have the via ports only tab ticked
when jf starts it only finds my 2 dvd drives tha are in the pc it can not find the lite on I have tried this with the tray shut and half open

A bit more additional info is that this is the first lite on drive ive tried to flash in fact the only thing i have done so far with jf is to do a drive swap on a benq last week in which i followed the instructions and had no probloms at all and I used the connectivity kit to open that drive without any probs so yes im a noob at flashing xboxs but can usally get by by reading the instructions but am a bit stuck on this

Not sure if this is the case but i know when a liteon flash goes wrong or you erase it and never finish flashing the drive wont show up on JF and it wont eject in xbox or using connectivity kit

my work around is to just send intro/dev id in mkt or do lite on erase just to get it in vendor mode (even though JF reports no drive connected it will still work.)

i also had one yesterday that wouldnt show up and once in vendor it wouldnt give me accurate info on the drive.
ended up working once tray was closed fully

but i do this safely becasue i have my key already saved. i dont know if i would try it if you dont have your key!

dont think its a flash gone wrong as it works ok just wanted to update the firmware and as its never showed up in my pc dont think i have done anything to it yet and your right dont fancy erasing anything as dont have the dvd key avalible

Does it eject in the 360? If it doesn't respond then the firmware is erased. You should try to redump it first so you have a backup. Use the probe and redump it. Or try opening it up in dosflash.

yes it works fine in the xbox and ive finaly got jf to find it by using the power from the xbox instead of the conectivity kit so few more questions
1 got to the stage were I have spoofed the dvd key and have pointed to jf were the 1.61 firmware is but it does not fully show up in the target box the vendor, model and rev is all ok but the firmware type is blank this also shown in the log see below

2 why would my connectivity kit open the xbox

My first question is do you have your key?

if you have your key then your safe to do whatever you want with that drive....

continue on with the jungle flash tutorial steps to erase and write

i beleive you can do inrto/dev >>> erase >>> then write >>> outro

and thats it, again assuming you have retrieved your key!

if you dont have your key go to dvd key 32 >>> select dummy bin only >>> click dummy from i xtreme and choose save location ...continue with the erase and flash

if you dont have your av cables pluged in then your xbox will only stay for a short period of time then shut down automaticly and im assuming close your tray. (i dont use the console to power the drive)

as far as the connectivity kit which one are you using how did you have it hooked up? did you make sure it was connected correctly also were you using a power source from the pc and not one of those cheap power adapter that is missing one of the contacts?

have got my dvd key safe now so have followed the rest of the instructions and the last thing the log says is
writing bank 0........

but jf has now hung up and is not responding

Right have got it to work just wished I knew what i did to get it to work but what i do know is that it now plays sabouter with out the activation disc

on to why the connectivity kit dont work im powering it off a molex which is connected to a pc the kit has two buttons 1 for power the other eject ive used this on a benq and it worked fine just did not eject on the lite on

sounds like you didnt uninstall both the drivers for this you are aware that there are two in vista/windows 7 ?

no need to panic like i was saying before this happened to me yesterday and i have recovered countless Dvd drives that were erased and never completed..

in device manager is there a yellow exclamation point for your via 6421 card ?

double check that this is the not the issue becasue JF will freeze while writing if via card drivers are sitll installed

also if you delete only one driver and restart win vista/7 will automaticly reinstall device you need to make sure both are deleted then restart then check device manager for the yellow exclamation

thanks for your help but looks like i was updating my last thread when you posted your last mesage so will try and recap
have now sucsfully writen the 1.61 to the drive but not sure how i managed to get it to work whick is annoying
connectivity kit is powered by a molex connected to the pc dont know what type it is as brought of ebay got 2 switches 1 for power 1 for eject and worked fine on a benq
can not rember deleting 2 files for the raid card but it does show up as an yellow exclamation point so think thats ok
