did you install the drivers for your sata card? Because you're not supposed to.

also if you can't even open iprep make the bootable drive then you might be missing .framework 2.0 or an update for it. Check to see if you have all the updates for it.

Since you talked about mode b i'm guessing you have a hitachi drive? if so i don't know if you need to power cycle it but you could try that.

Maybe you should tell me the steps you have taken so i can get a picture of what you're doing.

Here's how it should be done for iprep

download benq ixtreme firmware
install portio drivers
open iprep
select your compatible sata controller (if your using onboard its probably nvidia if not then via 6421)
write down primary port number(this is the port you will plug your benq into)
select a com port(if you have portio installed your usb should be in the list)
pick a target device (usb drive?)
Load the ixtreme firmware in the benq tab
check the box "format and make bootable"
after that hit start

if you did all of the steps i mentioned then you should be ready to flash your drive. let me know if you've gotten that far.

Also, are you sure your sata controller is compatible? if its onboard then you should not need to uninstall the drivers and your benq should show up in device manager. try plugging it in and going to device manager then hit refresh and see if your drive pops up. If not then your on-board controller may not be compatible.
