I have become aware of many people having problems with HDTV's and connecting peripherals, such as Games consoles and DVD/ Blue Ray players etc.
The problem is related to both the positioning of sockets on the HDMI TV, and the quality of the HDMI cables used, in short, the quality can show poor tolerances, both on plugs and sockets. Also entry pathway, bottom sockets on appliance have to deal with the mass of the cable, if tolerances are poor, the connection will not be adequate and likely to a blue screen, also parallel entry poor tolerances will mean plug leans downwards, again causing poor connection and intermittent blue screen. Ist method of fixing, swap ends, you may find the connector fits tighter, if not, very gently squeeze the two wide part very carefully, only a mm or two, until it fits tightly, you may need to do both ends and you will reduce incidence of Blue Screen when you move from HDTV to other input device. HDMI cables are made in many countries, and some have questionable tolerance control. Just some observations I have made, and rectified , so ones I've done have no further blue screen problems. Be careful that cables don't have sharp bends in their routing, and don't get squashed, also be careful in unwinding new cables, you can pinch the internals by not undoing carefully. Gold plated plugs help with a better connection.
