Hi guys my old samsung drive with an old NME chip went out a couple weeks ago so I deceided to get me a new setup. So I got another 360, compared the tray to what was on the NME site and thought that I had a Benq drive. I ordered a new NME 2.0 chip and when I took my 360 apart I noticed that my drive board looked NOTHING like what was on NME's site. After doing some research I realised that I didnt have a Benq. I have a Phillips/Lite-on drive. Am I screwed? is there anything I can do? I searched and searched the web and can not find a diagram or solution. I read some things about the lite-on drives being unmoddable. But those posts were old. Can I put this new NME chip on this phillips/lite-on board? If not, is there a chip out there that I can put on this new drive to play my backups? Thanks ahead of time for the help.

don't chip your drive, I would honestly never recommend it. Flash your drive, it is much better. Look it up on how to do it here.

Although I appreciate the reply guesswho, I've been using a modchip to play my backups for years now. I've never had a problem until my drive failed error "65" I believe..... I dont want to flash because of xbox live issues. I've already had one console banned. So I'm sure you can see how I'm a little nervous about flashing my drive and being a HEAVY live user. I kinda wanna stay with what I know. I know thre is a saying about that but cant think of it right now lol. Anyway, we are getting off subject. I would still like to put these 2 NME chips into my phillips/lite-on drives. I did pay for them afterall. If chipping the drive is impossible I will look into flashing. I've heard if you are stealthed, blah blah blah you "should" be ok. but I still dont feel comfortable. But this is coming from someone who has already felt the sting of the ban hammer. You are welcome to message me to help me along with the flashing stuff if you want. Send me some links to exactly the information I need. That would be really nice of you. Thanks again. Riff

Well, riffman, NME chipping for the Lite-On may just be impossible, as you know on their install page that they don't list Lite-Ons, only Hitachis, Samsungs, and BenQs.

My guess is that they probably don't sell anywhere near as many modchips as they once did, before flashing became as popular as it is, leaving Lite-Ons unsupported by their chip.

Do what I did. 2 years ago, I bought 3 NME V1 chips. They worked fine, but a little over a year ago, removed the chips and flashed the drives. I sold and installed the chips into other people's 360s. That's probably your best bet.
