Hi, I apologize in advance I am very new to this and was hoping to get some advice and direction on where to go.

My kids received a wii for Christmas and I have been doing a bit of research on modding the wii so we don't have to keep buying games for it but there is so many options out there and I don't know which was are good mods and am worried I will fry the wii or even my computer lol. I am leaning toward a DriveKey Solderless modchip and I have seen you tube videos how to install them am I am sure I can do that but I can't find any info on how or where to download the games or if the modchip needs any software loaded on it and have saw stuff about the modchip being regional, do I need to buy it from my country? I have found a couple of site that sell the chips but don't know which to trust. Basically I am looking for step buy step info on purchasing, installing tips, programs needed, burning games, basically everything on how to do this lol. Any info on this would be awesome!! Thanks so much.

Larry's guide is the only way I could mod mine. You don't need a modchip, just do the softmod.

Option 1 to make backup's---
This to dump the game to your PC over WiFi:

This to burn the game to a blank DVD on your PC:

I apologize for the long time not replying but I wanted to thank you profusely for the info on modding my kids wii!!! I ran out and bought a sd card reader and had no problem loading the software on the wii. I didn't realize there were different regional games(ntsc and pal) so I ended up downloading a pal one first which worked but had no colour and lines through the picture so I came back to this site and searched it and found the answer to that very quickly and have since downloaded 8 games and have another 8 downloading!! Thanks again so much!!
