Just curious if anyone knows how the bannings take place? The point of this thread is to find out if it is safe to buy a refurb Xbox 360 update it online once and then mod it and never connect it back to Xbox Live ever again.

The reason being to keep playing all the games that I like offline without penalty of corrupting my hard drive.

I have an unmodded Xbox 360 now that was purchased brand new just to play the 3-4 games that I do play online. But for games that are to be released soon I would like to have a modded unbanned console to play them with and just switch my hard drive between the 2 consoles.

Is this possible or would game updates still be able to detect and disable my modded offline Xbox 360?

One modded "offline" box and one retail "Live" box sharing the same hard drive is fine.

thats pretty much what I'm looking to do as well. their only a few games i usually only play sports games and shooters online everything else is offline.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I have already purchased the refurb Xbox 360 so hoping it will have like a BenQ in it and then update it once as soon as I get it and then mod it and never connect it back to the internet again.

Mainly because I want to play a couple games coming out like Neir and Bioshock 2 and etc.

But then I have a brand new 2009 MFR date console to play games like CoD MW2, etc online with the same hard drive.

Has anyone experienced problems with this yet of the offline console getting banned due to game updates?
