pros and cons of soft-modding Wii via usb HD vs sd

I have heard that soft-modding via usb HD the games load and run faster, the only problem is that my buddy has only soft-modded using an sd card.

Loading from USB HDD is more practical because you can use larger storage devices. The Wii only supports 32GB SD cards. Where USB HDD is known to support over 1TB USB HDD drives.
