Does a particular brand of dvd media matter and do you have to use DVD-R rather than DVD+R? Also if using a sd card for soft-modding does a particular brand or type matter?

Use DVD-R Verbatim or Tayio Yuden. Use IMGBurn to burn at half the rated speed of the media.
