After buying my xbox 360, i recently updated the firmware to the latest 2.0.8955.0. (through USB method, as i don't have internet connection on my xbox 360) I want to watch some .avi movies from my portable hard drive on my 360, but i cant. Apparently a 2007 update made it possible to watch .avi movies, but because i got it recently and updated it to the latest firmware update,i apparently cant watch .avi movies. is there a way to downgrade or watch .avi movies from a Portable HD on my xbox 360 without the fall 2007 update.

You should still be OK playing normal .avi files, if you want to play divx .avi's you will need to connect it to the internet to download the codec.
My xbox 360 keeps asking for a media update to play .avi movies from my portable hard drive, kinda annoying, because i can't connect it to the internet just yet (no ports on the house in places other than the study room + got no wireless), is there a way to get this update without live?
