I am having so many issues. Just when I think I have all bases tied up I run into another issue. Ok first of all I have a (usa)wii. We had updated it to a 3.4u when we got it because that is what everyone was telling us to do for playing burnt games. Well the last few days we've started trying to figure it out again and are running into nothing but problems. We downgraded it. Now it says that it is a 3.2u. That is what it needed to be I think. Now. Weve put in the cios38, the backup launcher, we have the wad manager channel... Im not even sure what all we have. My husband puts them in and I am kind of the search engine if you understand. Last night I found a youtube video. Please if you have the time Id like you to look at it for me. We have did all of this. Except toward the end of the video where they install the /app/install shop. We did that but there is a list of 1 throu 15 and they scroll throu saying done after each one. My wii only went to 1/3 , 2/3 , 3,3. Then after installing and saying done to all of them it stopped didnt give you a option to restart or say it was completed like this video did or anything. The next step worked fine. Im not sure this is where I think Im running into my problem. I have burnt out a game for the wii using imgburn. I use the option that says Write Image File To Disc. Im using Sony DVD-R Discs? Is there maybe something wrong with the programming that I have installed can I do it again with something from somewhere diffrent. Its like it was bad or something but didnt say bad. Sorry this is so long Please HELP ME.

Sorry this is so long Please HELP ME. Ive tried backup launcher channels but I think going throu homebrew is easiest for now. I go to the homebrew channel go to wii iso loader/backup launcher. It loads I put in the disc and it says...

[+]Wii Backup Loader v0.1-developed by Waninkoko
[+]Please insert a Wii game disc...OK!

[+]Resetting drive...OK!
[+]Title Identification...Error! (ret=4100)

Press any button to restart the wii

I would suggest that you go back to square 1 and start with this guide

http://forums.afterdawn.com/t.cfm/f-154/...2_guide-797772/

I've used it and I know that it works.

Once you have successfully installed the softmod then you can deal with the issue of backups.

BTW Sony media isn't the mosst reliable for Wii backups.

Thank you. This will help tons. Now do I want to update to a 4.1u or a 4.2u? Im sorry but it gave options for both. Which one do you have? Also Im not going to do anything until my husband gets home because like I said hes more of the installer guy and I am the search engine. I dont wanna mess anything up. Now He may not need to know this but Im gonna ask just in case.... is that stuff on the sight you attached. Is that a upgrader? If not Im going to need to upgrade to at least a 4.1u to do it. Where can I get a upgrader that you know works. Im sorry for your incontinence thank you for your time.

AFAIK, the instructions for 4.1 will work on Wiis that are UP TO 4.1. I believe that mine was 3.4u when I upgraded, then took the 4.1u upgrade later.

All the instructions and guides are linked in the thread that I gave you.

Once you get the softmod installed, you may want to do the extra step of installing the configurable USB loader and then you won't have to mess with backup discs.

THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUCH. We Officially did it. Now I have burned out super mario brothers. Using imgburn. Went to play it. It varies diffrent times how far it gets but it will play sometimes. It plays for a little bit and then it will say unable to read disc or some silly thing like that. I think that it may be the sony discs? Im not sure. Sometimes it will get to the game and start playing other times it will stop at the launch disc screen. It dont freeze it just pops the error, Ive read that the best discs are the verbatim discs dvd-r's is this correct? Also I do have some maxell dvd+r's. Can I use them? If so how. Ive heard that you can use both + and - but have not been able to get the +'s to work. Do I need a diffrent program to burn them with, because the burn option dont even come up. Thank you again so much I greatly appreciate all of your information. You are a life saver

You don't need different program to burn the DVD best bet is used the Verbatim -R, or used a USB loader the configurable or coverflow.

Thank You All... I dont mean to be a pain and nag but I have found more help here on afterdawn.com then I have found anywhere else I owe you guys so much. I am so new at this but I promise once I understand it all I will pay it forward. Ok now I have a couple more questions. First of all I have found some games that say scrubbed?? What does this mean? Also on one of the other games I was looking at said that a wad was needed to play it. I think it was like 2.0 wad or 0.2 wad or something. Is there alot of diffrent games that need diffrent wads? Is there a way that I can get those wads so that I wont need to look for them later? Like a site for wads? I am so sorry for being a pain in the butt. One more then I think Im good..... Ok now when you get a wii game that is a rar. Once you open the folder there are several diffrent rars there. I know that you need to combine them in order to burn them. Im just not sure how. Thank You in advance for all of your time

Original Wii discs are "padded" to the full 4.7GB capacity of the disc whether or not the usable data is 100MB or 4.7GB.

The "pad" information is usually random information which is typically non-compressible.

A "scrubbed" .iso is one that has the "pad" information replaced with all zeroes or other data that is "highly compressible".

When the .rar (or set of .rar files) is expanded, it will be "reconstituted" into a full 4.7GB .iso file

I cannot address your second questions about .wad files

Re: combining .rar files. Performing an extraction on the first .rar file (.r00) will typically expand the complete set into the source .iso.

.rar files are sometimes segmented like that in order that they can be stored on places like Rapidshare or Hotfile where there is a 100MB or 200MB file size limit.

Ŀ
It's a beginning. Full raw dump, unscramble with "GOD/WOD
unscrambler 0.4" by xt5 avaliable at:

and then one of the comments were...
you need to open the isopatacher 1.1 exe and drop the game you are wanting to patch into the dialog box. Patch game to 249.

I dont know. If this helps it is a call of duty 3 game..
