T-Mobile has announced today that they have completely upgraded their 3G network to HSPA 7.2Mbps (peak speed) from the former 3.6Mpbs, allowing for much smoother streaming and music and video downloads. The carrier also noted that its 3G map now covers 200 million Americans. Me as well. I would love to hear some news concerning a 3GS Jesus phone for T Mobile as well. Then I could tether my phone to my PC and get faster internet then good old Qwest can offer in my area. Sad...just plain sad.

Just called T-Mobile to confirm this and through no fault of Afterdawn's, this article is incorrect.

According to tech support, HSPA 7.2 IS presently being tested in Philadelphia and NY and the remaining markets are still at 3.6. Apparrently HSPA+ is being tested there as well.

On a positive note, since I buy all my phones overseas meant for the UK or Australia, I have one that supports video calls. Only Orange, Vodafone, etc and other country's GSM networks support such calls since their GSM networks are more advanced than those in the U.S.A. Not by much per tech support, but enough. Tech support figures that to be the next step in cellular GSM advancement.

This sounds like something AT&T should be doing instead of wasting money on advertisements and actors, I haven't really seen too many T-Mobile adverts recently... Good thing they're being smart with their money.

Unfortunately you know average Jo will be roped in by those adverts instead of making informed choices on what network is actually best....sadly

this is really good news since i live in Philadelphia.i been with T-mo for 3 years not the best service and not the worst i ever had.i hope that they get their offerings together in terms of cool phones.

T-Mobile rocks. They have the best prepaid program. But their data network has been their weak link. This was partially due to faulty business decision. I truly hope that they can catch up soon.
