Ive been looking around had for a while heard there was only 2 methods of getting a 360 to play backups which is flashing the Hard Drive or getting it chipped and ive heard if you get a modchip you can get banned and if you get it flashed either the same result or worst...?

so what method is better or safer or do they both have the same fate if you get caught? as i got told even if you dont have Xbox live or never hooked it up to the internet the Xbox 360 shuts down and never works again (i find that pretty hard to believe but seeing im a noob at this stuff i really cant say) but yeah was just wanting to know or peoples opinion on whats better as im thinking/wanting to do it sometime the price of some of the games are just a joke doesn't Microsoft get enough money from the consoles themselves and Windows? *sigh*

1. I have yet to see a widely regarded mod chip for the 360.

2. You do not flash the hard drive, you flash the DVD drive.

Just a heads up, if you really have no idea about any of this stuff but still want to do it, take the time and read up on it. I wouldn't mind flashing the console yourself, as the process is not very user friendly (especially right now with the newer Lite-On drives). That being said, reading up on how to properly patch your games is a must.

flashing seems to be the most popular choice due to it being cheap and easy to do on the majority of 360's

if you get caught your 360 gets banned from live, you lose the function to store games on your hard drive and your profile will become corrupt when used on another 360.
as aiur said, you need to do a lot of research about the whole subject before taking the plunge, but go by the belief that if you go online, eventually you will get banned!
