Very strange BenQ flash issue. Any idea's welcome.

Hi all i recently flashed a arcade with a benQ to ix 1.61. Console was to be played offline and wasnt concerned about fw version. Now i used iprep 10.1 to make bootable usb drive, Everything went smooth (as normal) read key succesfully, got all green **SUCCESS** messages and OFW was succesfully backed up.
Now i inserted a wave 4 backup (mw2) properly patched all green in abgx and am brought to either the play dvd "xbox" screen or "to play this game insert in xbox console" Also happened with l4d2, and wave 2/3 games like nba live 09 and madden 08, None would boot just the same 2 screens which suggests a drive key problem, or media problem.
Now the strange thing is it reads all originals which guarantee's the key is correct and 3 different kinds of media were used (memorex, TDK, and verbatim) all burned properly, Yet none work at all.
Also flashed to 1.4 non-stealth hoping it was security checks or somthing along those lines but to no avail, same problem, still boots originals, no backups of any wave will boot. Any ideas the community may have is welcomed and appreciated, Hopefully someone with a bit more experience in flashing can suggest a possible solution. Thanks in advance!

u need the activate boot disc for wave 4 games,reflash ur firmware again

He shouldn't need the activate boot disc. He's flashed to 1.61 so it should be able to boot wave 4 games. By any chance, do you have a different burner you could try? Maybe the burner is faulty. That's all I can think of ATM. Good Luck

Sounds like you flashed with 1.60 or below just reflash and make sure you have the proper FW

Thanks for the replies, I've been on holiday so haven't been able to tend to this thread. All ideas seem legible, However i am 100% positive i am running 1.61 with properly patched dmi/ss/pfi/crc ect. Ive never needed the activation disk for ive never burned a new game without updating fw (to 1.51,61 ect.) or patching games down to wave 2 or 3.
It wont even boot wave 1-2 backups yet WILL boot any wave original disc so im sure the key is correct.
As for my library, my media is burned on (at least) 3 different pc's as well as an intel imac so i dont believe its the burner or media.
So i just flashed to 1.4 non stealth with iprep and got confirmations "key succesfully copied", and after writing i got the "SUCCESS" message. Im simply puzzled. Ive Succesfully flashed ts, hitachi and other benQ's on the same pc using iprep and all work 100% this is my first problem i've encountered with flashing a drive.
Hope this opens windows to anymore suggestions. I will try anything (reasonable) suggested and update asap. Again thanks in advance for anything you may have to suggest!

If you can, try using Jungleflasher to flash the drive.

Great to hear other people have intel imacs :) I burn on various machines as well, so that shoots the idea I had about the burner not working correctly lol. The only thing I could suggest is maybe try to find the same drive model on ebay since you've got your drive key. Flash the drive key to the new drive, and hopefully that fixes the problem. Seems like you've covered everything else I can think of. Keep us updated and good luck!

cheers love my imac, Don't know of a pc that can run leopard, xp, vista and w7 on one machine! Anyways, It almost seems the drive is seeing my discs as bad backups considering i get 2 different screens and 1.61 has "strict wave and stealth compliance". Sometimes just the generic "xbox" screen with the logo ( like when you start you box up) then sometimes the "to play this disc put in xbox console" in 10 different languages, Yet i can boot originals. Ill try a differnt benq and report back.

no luck with the re-flash still same issue. Im almost thinking its hardware issue somewhere. But before i give up ill try jungleflasher for the first time. Ill flash to 1.61 and once again report back.

yea im thinking if JF doesnt work for ya then try tweaking the potentiometer for the laser cause you said it will play originals but not backups

I had a similar problem but with a Hitachi drive. Jungle flashed as usual but when I went to play my backups it showed either "Open Tray" or took me to the white "xbox" screen or the white "To play this insert in xbox console" Like yours mine played originals no problem. My hypothesis is that since drives have to work a little bit harder on reading backups maybe my hitachi's laser was just a wee bit too worn out.
I ended up flashing to stock and using this puppy as my online console.
