i haven't used a hex editor before but i'm guessing that what you're seeing is hex code which is 0-9s and A-Fs.

you can't read it like you read a book with words. each bit represents a value that pertains to certain values or properties of the code you're editing.

if i'm way off... lo siento.

I might be wrong but I believe it might be encrypted.
Just a guess.

XBOX Halo Ed. = DuoX2 w/250gb HD

True, it's possible that it's encrypted. However, the more likely answer is simply this: hex to ASCII translations don't always make words! Some hex values are only that: hex values. And they have no 'meaning' so to speak.

If you hex edit anything, you'll get the same result. You'll still have all those funky characters and such.

you dont have to hex edit to get rid of stealth checks, just flash back to an older fw without stealth checks.

u can't simply hex edit something, some things simply can't be hex edited since 1 bit out of place means it won't run, however i don't believe that's the case with ixtreme, in fact, it doesn't matter if it wasn't encrypted, as budro and CawkFour pointed out, the char's u know and love only comprise between 48-122, only 74 letter's/numbers(note their are some symbols even between them), everything else is simply symbols, and data that isn't human readable, in order to hex edit something u usually need a good understanding of the higher programming languages, and how compiler's work before you'd even begin messing around with lower level bit's and data that comprise an actual program executable
